TSX-V-listed Aton Resources has completed a 113-hole diamond drilling programme on the Abu Marawat deposit, in Egypt

The 9 642 m programme aimed to test near-surface mineralisation in an area of steep and mountainous terrain that is hard to access for conventional drill rigs.

Some of the results demonstrating high-grade mineralisation at the project include 2.5 m of gold grading 33.8 g/t, silver grading 419 g/t, 0.56% copper and 6.51% zinc from 151 m downhole and 6 m of gold grading 5.7 g/t, silver grading 96 g/t, copper grading 2.2% and zinc grading 0.96% from 55 m downhole.

CEO Tonno Vahk says the project has undoubted potential to support multiple gold mining operations, with the company focusing on the Abu Marawat and Semna targets as part of the Hamama prefeasibility study.

The company will start maiden drilling programmes on some of the other highly prospective targets in the area, including at the Sir Bakis and Bohlog targets, where Aton trenched wide zones of surface mineralisation in 2017, as well as conduct more drilling and sampling programmes on Abu Marawat.

The Abu Marawat deposit is located about 35 km north-west of the Hamama West deposit and 10 km north-east of the Semna deposit.
